Otari

Otari is a small port town on the south coast of the Bay of Korvosa, south of Harse and roughly midway between Korvosa and Veldraine. It is a modern but relatively quiet settlement.  Important to the economy of Korvosa is Otari's lumber trade: timber cut from the woods to the north arrives by road into Otari and, from there is transported by ship across the bay to Korvosa and beyond.

History

According to local legend, the first buildings of the town of Otari were built about a century after the founding of Korvosa in 4407 AR, by a group of former adventurers who called themselves the Roseguard. They built the settlement on a sheltered site south of Gauntlight Keep—a keep built by Belcorra Haruvex, who had been defeated by the Roseguard. During this struggle, the Roseguard lost one of its members, Otari Ilvashti, after which they quit adventuring and settled down.
