JamesDevil: Claw holds out the sword and shard of Gullony
Keelia: "The shard and sword are not the power sources of the rune lord, but rather were created by them an imbued with their power."
Smon: Sheila: "I feel that things are moving towards a climax. It is important you quickly recover the last Shard, so that we may reforge the Sihedron and use its power against these Returned Runelords."
JamesDevil: "if this is what they are after then we should take them head and and ram it down their throats!"
Keelia: she tells Claw gently. "We do not weaken the rune lord but by having them we keep them from having powerful weapons."
JamesDevil: hmm, so sloth it is then.....
DESTROYERBILL: hey drakhien i have a spear ring of protection if you want it to get your ac up unless all your slots are full

sandor sunneson: Lets do it then, we set off tomorrow morning?
JamesDevil: Claw leaves the room
Smon: Sheila nods at Quillax. "You speak wisely, as always."
Keelia: Q nods at Claw. "We'll have to move fast. Sheila, can you send warning to our companions who hold the other shards and weapons. they must be on their guard."
sandor sunneson: I have never encountered this Lord by name before, he sounds rather grim and nasty
Keelia: "We've had one sword already taken from my guardian mech."
Smon: Sheila nods again. "I'll have the Temple of Abadar Send to Sephiria Kaddren, and will contact Neril myself."
joriandrake: Drakhaien proposes to hide the Gluttony sword with Nondetection "It might be easily traceable by the runelord otherwise" one spell works for 8 hours
Keelia: "My thanks. As Sandor suggests, we must leave upon the morrow. We have no time to waste."
Smon: Sheila nods to Drakhaien. "That sounds good, if you can. We don't know if the Lord of Gluttony is fully returned, or merely stirring in his - slumber?"
Keelia: "A non-detection spell may not work against a rune lord. We will need to be vigilant. However, it may become useful as we approach them."
Smon: Sheila: "You know the location of the final Shard?"
JamesDevil: Claw finds a small opening in the woods, he sits crosslegged and lays the sword of Wrath accross his lap. *Casting Spirit walker as a ritual* "Oh might bear of my tribe, I am far from home, my kin have fallen to a great evil, my compainions and I are close to its defeat, but we need guidiance to the the final part of our victory, why can we find the Shard of Sloth?"
joriandrake: "It is rather short, so 8 hours would mean us to cast it near the location anyway, but better than nothing I guess"
JamesDevil: ooc as you can see Claw was already working on it
Smon: GM: Claw gets the strong sense that the path to the Shard of Sloth lies deep under Guiltspur, but its exact location is clouded, as if it is warded somehow.
JamesDevil: "Guilt spire...."#

Smon: GM: There were a couple exits from the chamber under Guiltspur so that's likely a good start.
JamesDevil: "We have to return to Guiltspire, its somewhere below it"

Smon: Sheila: "I suggest you get a night's rest, then leave at dawn."
JamesDevil: ooc we need to take the boat up part way to guilt spire right?
Keelia: "You can call upon my people if they can be of help. I will write to them and tell them to assist if they can."

JamesDevil: I have a number of warrior under my command as well, message them if you require assistence
DESTROYERBILL: i have a small brigade of loyal soilders pulled from the ranks of dragonborn and lizard men
Smon: Sheila nods: "I am no military commander, but I think it important your men hold the Storrval Steps, Lord Claw."

GM: You have a final night in Magnimar. Quillax could Transport via Plants back to about 3 miles from Guiltspur if you wish.
JamesDevil: whatever is required to get us theree the fastest
Keelia: Q will be happy to do that.
DESTROYERBILL: my soilders are on another plane so thats a problem but can anyone cast gate
DESTROYERBILL: if not ill need an atuning rod to this the unverse to use a dimensinal mirror taken from an evil arch mages tower after my bravest warriour defeated him
joriandrake: Drak will juggle a couple of colorful balls while on the journey
JamesDevil: Claw remains tense with the shard and sword of Wrath always at the back of his mind
Keelia: Once everyone is rested and prepared, she gathers them all together and Transports via plants them all to outside of guiiltspur as planned
Smon: GM: OK, next day at dawn Quillax uses a level 6 slot to create a gate in a tree in Heidmarch Manor grounds. You all step through and find yourselves at another tree on a rugged slope 3 miles from the Guiltspur. A cold wind is blowing down from the Kodar Mtns.
sandor sunneson: Thank you Quillax, beats walking

Smon: Hiking to Guiltspur you arrive just after 6am, the early morning sun struggling through the clouds.
Keelia: she nods
Smon: You see hill giant guards at the gate towers warding the valley - Stom's giants?
Keelia: Quillax keeps her eyes and ears open
JamesDevil: Claw leads the group remaining silent
Smon: As you approach with Claw in the lead, a horn blows, then the gates swing open.
joriandrake: Drak stops juggling balls, puts them away, then hides
Smon: Drak ducks behind a rock.
sandor sunneson: Sandor is alert and ready to rage
JamesDevil: Claw will head up to the fort
Smon: No one comes out the gates but you see a single fire giant soldier waiting.
Keelia: Quillax stays close at his shoulder.

Smon: The giant nods to Claw. "I am to escort you and your band to the General."

Smon: GM: Heading up to the fort you pass the newly repaired ballistae, Drakhaien juggling his balls.
Smon: Inside the fort General Stom is waiting with her entourage, about a dozen giants, 3 fire & 9 hill.
Smon: Stom grins at Claw: "Welcome, little one! What brings you back?"
JamesDevil: "Stom! Good to see you again!"
Smon: She kneels down and shakes Claw's hand/arm.
sandor sunneson: Sandor smiles, taking in the ambience
Keelia: Quillax hides her smile at how dwarfed Claw is
Smon: The male fire giants roll their eyes, but don't dare snigger at Stom.
Smon: Sandor takes in the corpses and pelts on the walls, the fug of the fire smoke, the mammoth tusk decor...
JamesDevil: "well, it turns out that there is more evil under guilt spire than we first realised, would you mind awfully allowing us to go down and clear it out for good?"
Smon: Stom nods. "Like I promised, there is peace between us... If you find any more giants down there, please send them up to me. And tidy up any disorderliness - all must be ready for Lord Karzoug's glorious return!"
Smon: Stom: "You may have some trouble with those weird Leng creatures - don't worry about killing them."
JamesDevil: "We'll send up the willing and persuade those that resist"
JamesDevil: "ah, I see, thank you for the warning"
joriandrake: Drakhaien adds Prestidigitation to juggling with 5 balls, the balls blink up in different colors while thrown he looks interested and raises an eyebrow (while continuing to juggle) at the mention of Leng creatures though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN11vV957mQ
Smon: Stom nods. "But do not slay any peaceful emissaries of Leng - Karzoug wishes to re-establish the Old Alliance."
Keelia: "What does a Leng look like?"
Keelia: "So we know who to extend your offer to?"
Smon: The hill giants look agape at Drak's juggling, the fire giants feign indifference. Stom laughs at Quillax's naivete. "Leng is a place, not a race, foolish girl!"
joriandrake: (Leng might be worth a History roll?)
Smon: "The Emissaries - they should look more like you - two arms, two legs, like teeny little giants. But wrapped in robes. And their mouths are very big."
joriandrake: (or its creatures?)
Smon: OK Drak can roll history
joriandrake rolls 1d20+9 and gets: 7, (+9) = 16

Keelia: "Ah, thank you. I have never met anyone from Leng. I wanted to be sure we were not attacking those you want for allies."
JamesDevil: "very well, we will avoid attacking any of the Leng denizens"
Keelia: "Unless they are not peaceful," Q nudges him.
JamesDevil: "thank you once again for you help in this matter"
Keelia: "Indeed, Lady Stom, our thanks."
Smon: Guiltspur is said to be cursed—a site
avoided even by the giants that call the
Storval Plateau home. The site is little more
than a strange green pinnacle of stone
protruding from the ground, but even this
is enough to send chills down the spines of
those who believe in the area’s curse.
Guiltspur is in fact a Thassilonian ruin, a
building buried under a massive lava flow
that blanketed much of the northeastern
Storval Plateau during the fall of Thassilon.
The building itself is said to have been a
combination laboratory and embassy for
strange, otherworldly allies of Karzoug,
the Runelord of Greed.
Smon: That's all Drak knows on a 19.
Keelia: (I note the use of otherworldly.)
joriandrake: ok, so nothing about Leng
Keelia: (They could be from another plane, demons perhaps)

Smon: Stom: "There is an entry to the under-tunnels beneath this fort, or you can go via the Guiltspur excavation, where you killed Jubbek last week."

Keelia: "I would be interested in seeing more of the fort if you would not be averse to us using the entrance below here?"
Keelia: "It is interesting architecture."
Smon: On a 20, Quillax knows:
The place (Guiltspur) was little more than rumor
until recent years, when stories began
to emerge of an immense excavation led
by the blue dragon Cadrilkasta. These
stories tell of entire tribes of hill and fire
giants, enslaved by the dragon and forced
to painstakingly dig out the chambers of
buildings buried in the ground below the
great green spur.
Keelia: (Claw is busy making eyes at Stom  )
Smon:
joriandrake: "Well, the place is just a boring remnant of transdimensional embassies and laboratories from Leng buried under lava, originally the palce was Karzoug's. It's from the Thassilonian Era."
JamesDevil: "by the way, you are looking especially attractive today, did you do something with your flames?" Claw winks
Smon: Ruk will be jealous!
joriandrake: place*
Smon: Stom titters, twiddling a flaming hair-braid. "Oh, you noticed!"
JamesDevil: ooc She isn't here plus its not like relationship could workout

joriandrake: "Considering it is trans-dimensional the place is likely tied to other plane or planes at the embassy or labs, and I assume Leng might also be located on a different one than ours"
Smon: Stom escorts you through the south door of the fort's great hall, across a passage, through another door into an empty guardroom. Stone stairs lead down into the basalt rock.
joriandrake: Drak continues to juggle as he speaks
Smon: "She gestures you to follow her down the stairs.
joriandrake: Drak juggles after her
sandor sunneson: Sandor follows
Smon: At bottom of steps:

This thirty-foot-wide chamber appears to have been widened
with picks and chisels. More natural-looking tunnels—
ten-foot-wide circular lava tubes—extend from this larger
chamber to the north, south, and east, while to the west, a
roughly caved flight of stairs sized for giants leads upward.

Three fire giants stand guard here, and salute Stom as she enters.

"HAIL STOM!"
JamesDevil: Claw follow as well
DESTROYERBILL: i follow
Keelia: Q keeps up (with effort having shorter legs)
Smon: Stom: "Hail... These are the little ones you are to permit to pass through, and return."
The three guards nod, eyeing your group.
joriandrake: "Left, right, left right" Drakhaien says as he takes the steps below while juggling
Keelia: "Our thanks again, Lady Stom."
JamesDevil: "Stom turns to Stom, we'll send any giants we find back this way, any that resist we will *deal* with"
JamesDevil: Claw turns*
joriandrake: Drakhaien stops juggling, he opens his backpack and lets the 5 balls drop into it as they fall down from the last juggling throw, then closes the backpack again
sandor sunneson: good plan,
Smon: Stom nods. "The quickest way on is to the north. We have blocked the tunnel to stop the Leng-things coming up from below, but little ones like you will be able to clear a path."
joriandrake: "The Leng-things still being around might suggest a portal to the other planes at the embassies is still open"
Smon: "East leads to the Warning Pillar and the Butchers' Highway. South are just excavations."
joriandrake: He readies his bow, placing a black feathered arrow on it
Smon: Stom bids Claw a warm farewell and heads back upstairs.
Smon: The sentries eye you. As mentioned there are 3 tunnels out from the east end of this guard cavern, to N E and W.
JamesDevil: "right, lets go north, we have little time for diversions"
joriandrake: Drakhaien goes into stealth mode a little ahead of the others
JamesDevil: Claw will lead on
Keelia: Quillax ushers the others down and ensures she is out of hearing of any giants before she speaks. "We cannot let any allies of Karzoug live unless we have no choice. That means no Leng can be allowed to live OR escape if we are in a battle."
joriandrake: Drak signals Claw to let him walk ahead and observe the surroundings for secret passages and traps

Smon: This vast circular chamber rises up to a height of sixty feet, a
dome-like room with walls that may have once been smooth
but are now riddled with cracks and fissures. Twenty-foot-high
curving stone shelves fill the room, leaving a circular area open
in the center. Iron double doors lead out of the room in the
four cardinal directions. Splashes and splatters of blood mar
the floor here and there, and two huge leathery mounds lie
heaped in the middle of the room, pretty much direct below you.
Smon: You can all reach the bottom of the shaft/ceiling of the room.
Smon: Cllimbing across the ceiling to reach the floor would be very hard, DC 25 Athletics.

These include four thin silvery metal plates that contain
magical writings—these are sturdy cold siccatite plates
that function as spell scrolls—a scroll of ice storm, a scroll
of wall of ice, a scroll of cone of cold, and a scroll of polar ray.
Once used, the “scrolls” become nonmagical but are still
worth 25 gp apiece. Another shelf holds a series of metal
tablets edged with silver clasps that contain etchings
of the internal organs of a whale of prodigious size
(measuring nearly 500 feet from head to tail); the tablets
are worth 250 gp in all. Three round jars sealed with
silver contain baby aboleths preserved in embalming
f luid (each jar is worth 50 gp), while fragments of a
chuul’s shell sit on another shelf. A successful DC 18
Perception check made while examining this skeleton
reveals a pearl of power (5th level) embedded in one of
the shell’s claws; the pearl can be pried out with ease.
Finally, one shelf near the center of the room contains
29 enormous bone scroll rollers, some of which are 6
feet long. The contents of these scroll rollers have long
since turned to dust, but f ive of the smaller ones are
bound in silver and gold and worth 400 gp each.
