This vast circular chamber rises up to a height of sixty feet, a
dome-like room with walls that may have once been smooth
but are now riddled with cracks and fissures. Twenty-foot-high
curving stone shelves fill the room, leaving a circular area open
in the center. Iron double doors lead out of the room in the
four cardinal directions. Splashes and splatters of blood mar
the floor here and there, and two huge leathery mounds (& 2 destroyed Skullrippers) lie
heaped in the middle of the room.
Smon: From end last session - Smon: GM: OK you Short Rest while looting the library, takes about an hour. As you are doing this you occasionally get an eerie feeling you are being watched, and occasionally seem to glimpse a figure from the corner of your eye, but when you turn it (he?) has vanished.
Smon: GM: Sandor has faded out, while Shieldbiter faded out & back in again.
JamesDevil: so, in which direction should proceed?
Smon: Drakhaien checks out the iron double doors leading N W S & E - none are trapped, but past the N W & E doors are tunnels collapsed after 10'-20'. The south doors open into a clear tunnel that leads south 20' to end at a matching set of double doors.

Smon: For Drak - [i]Rimeskull is a mountain on the western edge of the Kodar Mountains in northwestern Varisia.[1] Located on the banks of Lake Stormunder, it is named for the vaguely skull-shaped carving visible from miles away, the mouth of which is a large cave entrance.
The carving is a relic of ancient Thassilon, and the person depicted in the massive carving is the founder of Thassilon itself: Emperor Xin. During the time of this ancient empire, runelords commonly carved their faces into the mountainsides that faced their capital cities. The carving of Xin, however, faces the Runeforge, a place of great importance shared by all of the runelords.[2]
At the mountain's western base, just off the lake, lies a ring of seven ten-foot-tall, open-mouthed stone heads angled toward each other known as the Sihedron Circle. [/i] - Drak's people think this may be the magical entry to Runeforge.

Smon: General Stom waves Claw hello. "Oh, little one, you just missed the fun! Carnivorous Crystals, these are called! Monsters from Leng. More have been leaking through recently... perhaps a sign of Karzoug's impending return?" she says, hopefully.
Smon: A giant nods: "We had a Gug last week, too!"
JamesDevil: "perhaps, have there been any over signs?"

From there a tunnel leads west to the chamber where a great rock bars the west door, they roll it aside, opening the way to the glowing pit with the Quiet Halls library below.

Smon: Claw kicks open the doors at south end of south tunnel, revealing a hexagonal chamber 30' across, with archways in SW and SE walls.
In each of the six corners of this hexagonal room, a statue
stands atop a dais—each is of a six-foot-tall woman dressed in
a short robe and wielding a silvery sword. The statues have four
wings (the lower pair of each being small and atrophied), and
have no faces whatsoever.
Smon: You are in tunnel off the N wall.
Keelia: Ominous.
Keelia: Are the swords real?
Keelia: Or stone?

Keelia: Q uncertainly translates it for those that cannot understand

joriandrake: "Oh, this is like a museum, look but don't touch, I believe we trigger a security/protection system if we mess with the items"

Smon: GM: Standing in the middle of the hex chamber you can now see through the SW and SE archways into more 30' hexagonal chambers.
To SW: A hulking object lies upon a fifteen-foot-wide circular dais at
the center of this room. The object is made of stone and seems
to be a fragment of a much larger colossal stone carriage or
conveyance with immense stone rollers for wheels. Snake
motifs cover every corner of the object, while its front has
been carved to resemble an immense serpent’s skull. Smaller
shelves built into the edge of the dais contain numerous other
objects ranging from weapons to pieces of armor to more
mysterious objects.
DESTROYERBILL: okay fine
Smon: To SE: The SE half of this hexagonal room is buried under a wall of hardened
lava, including the hindquarters of a gray stone statue of
a faceless sphinx. The sphinx sits atop a two-foot-tall dais.
Shallow shelves have been carved into the side of the dais,
in which sit various objects that appear to be of an oracular
nature—crystal balls, censers, and the like, many of which have
fallen from their alcoves to crack or shatter on the stone floor.
Smon: In the faceless angel chamber you are in there are also double doors direct south of you across the room; a similar colour to the grey-brown walls.
joriandrake: Drak whispers "Even if we must at one point touch something, we can and should investigate the whole palce and all items on show before that"
joriandrake: He ponders the double doors "...probably just opening the doors is fine, not sure though"
joriandrake: Drakhaien tries to look for any writing on or near the doors
JamesDevil: Claw stands infront of the doors
JamesDevil: "hmm"
Smon: Fire light plays into the SW and SE chambers from a source out of sight, probably directly south of you, and Drak can hear a faint crackling as of fire from that direction.
Keelia: "If it's a museum type thing, we should be able to move from exhibit to exhibit, so doors should be safe."
Smon: Claw heads over to the south doors; he can make out the sound of the fire through the south doors.
JamesDevil: Claw opens the door
joriandrake: Wait a moment
joriandrake: "If any of you can use Detect magic, this would be a good time for it" the elf says
JamesDevil: (like you said if its a museum it should be safe)
Smon: Claw pushes the south doors open, revealing another hex shaped chamber, double doors in S wall and archways to NW and NE.
This chamber hums with an unsettling noise, for at its center
churns a great ball of fire. The sphere measures ten feet across
and hangs in the center of the chamber, periodically sending
short tendrils of fire out as if tasting the air around it.

Smon: The ball is only about 5' off the ground - you can all see it. It is about 10' across and looks like a Fireball spell paused in the very moment of explosion!

Smon: Claw goes round the frozen fireball to the right and tries to open the south doors - they open inward only a little way, he sees that the tunnel(?) beyond has been blocked by lava.

Smon: Claw heads back into the angels room, with the double doors south to fireball room, arch SE to sphinx room and arch sw to snake/juggernaut thing room/

Smon: Tough dealing w Runelords stuff w/out Arcana.
joriandrake: if History/Perception/Investigation helps though, then Drak's the man
Keelia: Q will head to the snake, I guess
Smon: Well Drak can tell the fireball looks a bit unstable, but I think Claw already guessed that
joriandrake: hm, not sure if the story got converted to 5e but I believe investigation didn't exist in first Pathfinder system
JamesDevil: Claw walks up to one of the statues
joriandrake: Yeah, it doesn't need much to see it
Keelia: I guess we can try to take a sword and see what happens?
Smon: (I convert as I run, eg it says 'Spellcraft Check', I typically use Arcana, or a casting check if appropriate)
Keelia: Maybe they are like keys? Or you pull one and it opens something?
joriandrake: Yeah we can go back and grab the swords from statues, maybe they are just speaking but not acting/fighting

joriandrake: "this will need strength I guess" Drak steps back, bow readied just in case
Smon: Claw goes through SE arch into the room with the faceless sphinx... he feels a bit uneasy looking at it.
JamesDevil: Claw moves aroubnd it, does he anything written on it?
Smon: The sphinx sits atop a two-foot-tall dais.
Shallow shelves have been carved into the side of the dais,
in which sit various objects that appear to be of an oracular
nature—crystal balls, censers, and the like, many of which have
fallen from their alcoves to crack or shatter on the stone floor.
JamesDevil: brb
joriandrake: So we doN't try the statue swords?
Smon: Half of this hexagonal room is buried under a wall of hardened
lava, including the hindquarters of the gray stone sphinx statue. As Claw moves around looking for writing....
11:29am 2019-3-24 Keelia Has exited the room
joriandrake: OK, I guess I need to prepare meal now, can we stop?
Smon: Claw suddenly feels as if the room were spinning around him
while the sphinx statue grinds to life and turns to face
him. He feels the faceless gaze hold him motionless while
the world crumbles away to be replaced by the vastness of
space. The certainty of a singular malevolence looming
behind the stars themselves, a darker dark amid the
blackness, fills Claw’s mind, along with a myriad
of strange and horrific secrets. An instant later, the room
returns to normal, and he remembers only that he stood before an entity
known as NYARALOTHEP the Crawling Chaos.

Smon: Claw grasps a sword - its blade cold to the touch - and tugs it free (DC 20 Athletics, auto pass).
Keelia: Q will tap him with guidance for a boost

Smon: GM: Drak can ID the cold weapon as sicatite, worth over 1,000gp just for the metal - can be used to forge Frost Brand weapons, but currently it's just a long sword that does +1 cold damage on a hit.
JamesDevil: Simon taking a while to type, so this is going to be bad
Smon: The statues remain statuary.
Keelia: OK, so not attacked. Let's grab the rest of the swords and see what happens

Smon: Quillax looks through SW arch into snake/juggernaut room. There are double iron doors in N and S walls.
A hulking object lies upon a fifteen-foot-wide circular dais at
the center of this room. The object is made of stone and seems
to be a fragment of a much larger colossal stone carriage or
conveyance with immense stone rollers for wheels. Snake
motifs cover every corner of the object, while its front has
been carved to resemble an immense serpent’s skull. Smaller
shelves built into the edge of the dais contain numerous other
objects ranging from weapons to pieces of armor to more
mysterious objects.
Smon: You haven't seen the ghost since leaving the library.
JamesDevil: Claw will join Q in the snake room
Keelia: She will poke around for anything interesting looking
Smon: GM You can roll History vs the juggernaut
JamesDevil: He'll move around to the south and check the door,, carefully after last time

Smon: Quillax recalls:
The serpentfolk empire was long an enemy of Azlant,
and by extension an enemy of the nation of Thassilon. By
the time Thassilon was growing, though, the serpentfolk
deity Ydersius had been defeated and the race was in
decline. Isolated pockets of serpentfolk control remained
in Thassilon (particularly near Viperwall and the Mobhad
Leigh) or in the Darklands below. The objects on display
in this room look like trophies collected from Thassilonian
conflicts with these serpentfolk.
The large stone carriage can be identified as a sizable fragment
from a destroyed juggernaut of unknown qualities. This
check also reveals that juggernauts are powerful constructs
enhanced and powered by faith, and were used by ancient
religions as machines of war. This juggernaut is no longer
functional, but given the surviving portions, it must have
been a truly colossal monster when it lived.
Smon: DC 20 History that was for those of you with a Therassic library

joriandrake: Oh well it makes sense, Drak was too busy with other stuff so just 19
Smon: The shelf items:
While the juggernaut fragment is relatively
worthless save as an ancient curiosity, a few of the surviving
items around the dais’s rim are of note. One alcove contains
a serpent mask of beaten gold with amethyst eyes (worth
1,400 gp in all), while a second alcove contains a mummified snake. A third alcove contains an iron wand of sepia snake sigil (8
charges), while a fourth contains a rod of the viper.
joriandrake: Do these serpent people still exist? Are those yuan ti?
Keelia: "OK, stand ready in case touching this causes issues," she warns the others
Smon: The serpentfolk are believed to still lurk here and there on Golarion.
joriandrake: Ohh
Keelia: waiting for them to be ready, she carefully picks up one thing at a time

Smon: >>amesDevil: anything through the S door?<< Claw opens the south doors, revealing yet another 30' hex chamber, but This sixty-foot-high room is almost completely filled by a
twisted metal pillar that rises up from the floor to apparently
pierce the ceiling above. A narrow flight of stone steps, only
two feet in width, winds up the side of the pillar to the ceiling. A
strange, butterfly-shaped rune with what appears to be closed
eyes on its wings is carved onto the middle of each step’s riser.
JamesDevil: calling back "hey guys, i thinkk i found a ay forward, it'll be a bit of a squeeze for me and SB though"
Smon: Quillax takes the mask while Drak goes to take the snake - it crumbles to dust, revealing incandescent blue sphere ioun stone the thing had swallowed - it glimmers, clearly active!
Keelia: "Thar," she says, "is important"
Smon: GM: Incandescent blue - that's the kind to suppress the Shard of Sloth's curse - Sheila provided you an inactive one, but this looks like the real deal!
joriandrake: "nice"
Keelia: "Keep it safe."
joriandrake: Does it do anything else?
joriandrake: "Okay"
Smon: GM: Want to stop there - you get 1500 extra xp
JamesDevil: "excellent! this will make dealing with the shard much easier!"

joriandrake: is this requiring attunement ?
Smon: It also gives the +2 WIS if you have it in an attuned shard of sloth
joriandrake: ok, I will probably jsut temporarily hold it then, not certain of the future yet, or which shard Drak might get
Smon: ioun stones do not need attuning if orbiting your head
joriandrake: then I use it as long shard stuff is not clear
