Morcruft
Mesmalatu

5:24pm  2019-5-11 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Jorian!
joriandrake: good evening Simon
Smon: Game next weekend will be on the Sunday, still at 6.30pm
Smon: So that's on 19th May
joriandrake: and today?
Smon: in 5 minutes
Smon: No Fergus, James should be here, & Keelia AFAIK
Smon: Got levelled up?
joriandrake: note that I play in Bochi's game on Sundays, I might only be able to be here for half a hour next session
joriandrake: thanks for reminder, I don't think I updated the stats yet
Smon: Ah, in that case we could do Sunday 08.30am instead
Smon: James Bill & me can do either, I suspect Keelia might prefer the morning, Fergus doesn't know.
Smon: (I have my monthly Saturday FR game next week)
joriandrake: sorry, always confused about am/pm
joriandrake: normally my session on SUnday starts at 20:00
joriandrake: which is 19:00 in Uk I think
Smon: yup
5:28pm  2019-5-11 JamesDevil Has entered the room
JamesDevil: hi
joriandrake: 08:30 am is actual 08:30 and not 16:30 yes?
joriandrake: not 20:00*
joriandrake: I can't even type what I wman, sigh
joriandrake: mean
Smon: >>08:30 am is actual 08:30?<< Yes!
Smon: Hi James!
Smon: last session http://smonscurseofthecrimsonthrone.blogspot.com/2019/05/ep-80-1614720-ar-embassy-of-leng-flying.html
End of session you short rested & spent some hit dice after driving off the Flying Polyp.
joriandrake: i have a headache, we didn't even start yet but you see the effect of it
5:32pm  2019-5-11 Keelia Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Keelia!
Keelia: hello
JamesDevil: hi K
Smon: Smon: last session http://smonscurseofthecrimsonthrone.blogspot.com/2019/05/ep-80-1614720-ar-embassy-of-leng-flying.html
End of session you short rested & spent some hit dice after driving off the Flying Polyp.
Smon: The cathedral:
A vast cathedral towers here, lit by flickering blue lights that
dance in the upper reaches of the yawning space. The floor is
of a sickly blue stone so polished and reflective that it almost
serves as a cerulean mirror. To the west, the ceiling is a mere
fifty feet high, but as the cathedral widens to the east, the
ceiling rises to twice that height. Stone pillars support the
space above, while to the west, six alcoves containing statues
of winged women with empty faces stand guard. A twentyfoot-
tall stone double door sits in the cathedral’s northern
wall, its face carved with a depiction of a vast mountain range
capped by a towering castle. Far to the east, a series of steps
rises up to a wide pulpit on which crouches an elephantine
faceless sphinx carved from black stone.
joriandrake: hi
Smon: A quick search reveals no treasure. Are you going through the secret door Quillax discovered that leads to a short passage north?
Keelia: Q reminds them there was a voice at the other end
JamesDevil: check for traps on the door first
Keelia: i guess we are heading that way
JamesDevil: lag?
Keelia: maybe
JamesDevil: Who's got the highest investigation?
Keelia: prob drak.
joriandrake: apparently, as I just updated my sheet I could've improved my skills on level 17 already, but now I fixed it, and now I have passive 28 for perception, and passive 31 for investigation, Drakhaien now truly became Sherlock
Smon: The secret tunnel is only 5' wide by 10' long, so easiest for just one of you to enter and check the far door for traps.
JamesDevil: "you first Drak
Keelia: if drak engages stealth and goes and checks the 2nd door for traps, (first one is fine since Q went thru)
Smon: Drak scans the door and sees no traps. He hears a slobbering crunching sound from beyond the door, and a muffled giggling.
Keelia: then the others can be right behind him.
joriandrake: Drakh will go back and point this out "We're not alone"
Smon: A voice speaks "Poor Morcruft, so sad, so alone. Alone with all the tasty tasties..."
JamesDevil: "all right, lets back out and i'll go first"
Smon: The voice comes from maybe 15' past the north door.
JamesDevil: "ready?"
joriandrake: what does it resemble? small girl's voice?
Smon: *crunch* *slobber* "Yum!"
joriandrake: I guess not
Smon: It sounds hoarse, male though high pitched
joriandrake: Well, Drakh readies his bow and hides then, waiting for others to open door
joriandrake: it could be something like an imp, considering the planar rift stuff
JamesDevil: Claw bursts into the room Axe raised
JamesDevil: ooc the standard way barbarians enter a room ofc >.>
Smon: GM: Claw shoves past Drak and smashes through the secret door, Garvok raised (I assume)
joriandrake: probably how Claw began the night after marriage ceremony as well
JamesDevil: yes, got comfused another character
JamesDevil: ooc thats abrabrian mating ritual
joriandrake: Abrabria sounds like a fun fantasy nation name
Smon: Claw bursts into the SE corner of a hall running SW-NE about 20' wide & 30' long, stone double doors at NE end.
The walls of this room arch up like massive ribs to form
a corrugated ceiling. Between each rib stands an upright
sarcophagus—all of them have been pried open to allow the
contents to spill out onto the dusty floor. The bones appear to
have been gnawed and cracked open.
Smon: A strange man-sized ghoulish thing is hunched atop a sarcophagus gnawing a bone.
Smon: A skull - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBsmiU2tMcccZsWm2DsU7-MLvlzi02vOtzZSDc1yc8GAPFoqH0Y4_Mwb8h7XsQNQHvo1C3U-GLRAXrYPQ7NKMnk3KloJ72yDKOCg6F7LgmC29L1sDo6jLLLbEJSNCXbxzepLvNzKa-1niy/s400/Morcruft.bmp
joriandrake: if this is mechanically fine I let claw strike first then Drak releases arrow after that too
JamesDevil: lovely
Smon: At the sight of Claw it drops the skull, shrieking in terror.
"Eeek!"
It waves its claws in the air, clearly terrified.
"Not kill! Not kill Morcruft!"
JamesDevil: can Claw reach it from where he is?
Keelia: "Hold your weapons," Q calls out
JamesDevil: Claw halts his attck
Smon: Yes, if you want to attack it you'll have Surprise
joriandrake: Claw could react with waving its Morcrufts
Smon: Morcruft puts his hands over his head.
Smon: "Please! No kill! Me friend!"
JamesDevil: "speak creature, what are you and why are you here?
Keelia: "Morcruft, was it?" Q asks, peering around Claw
Smon: It sounds a lot like Jar-Jar Binks.
joriandrake: (doN't tempt me to shoot at it jsut because that similarity)
Smon: Morcruft nods. "Yes! Me Morcruft!"
JamesDevil: indeed
JamesDevil: "someone you know Q?
Smon: "I only want go home! Leng - me not like it here!"
Keelia: "No," she says to Claw. "But he's doesn't seem much of a threat. Maybe he can help, for all he seems to be possibly undead or at least cannibalisitic."
Keelia: "So many creatures, so far from home. Are you of Leng, then?" she asks. "How did you get here?"
JamesDevil: "where is home for you?"
Smon: Morcruft looks at Quillax. "Me Leng Ghoul - me not dead! Only eat dead things!"
Smon: It looks to Quillax. "Me fell from ledge - in temple - through waterfall, past Big Worm - splash in pool! *brr*"
Smon: Morcruft scratches his bald head thoughtfully. "Are you with the big dragon?"
Keelia: "Then we are likely safe enough for the moment," Q murmurs to her companions, then addresses Morcruft," what can you tell us about this area?"
JamesDevil: "o, but we are seeking him, do you know where it is?"
JamesDevil: no*
joriandrake: (I don't trust it, it is a ghoul and called us tasty earlier, I assume)
Smon: Morcruft points through the double doors. "Waterfall and Silver Mist Pit. Dragon did stuff, then went through Silver Mist Pit, vanished!"
joriandrake: I atually send this as whisper with cantrip Message
joriandrake: to Keelia
joriandrake: I mean Quillax
Keelia: "Silver mist pit, Sounds like a portal of some sort."
JamesDevil: "perhaps...."
Smon: (write Message before Messaged text J)
Keelia: "You've obviously been around for a while," she says, examining the empty sarcophagii nearby. "What can you tell us of this place?"
JamesDevil: "what 'Stuff' did the Dragon do exaxtly?"
joriandrake: Message to Q: "I don't trust it, it is a ghoul and called us tasty earlier, I assume"
Smon: Morcruft nods. "Portal, yes, me think so! Dragon collected Abysium Powder from Arc room, did ritual in Whisperstone room, then went in Silver Mist portal and vanished. Woke up sparkly skull floating on a dust ghost..."
Keelia: She tilts her head towards D acknowledging she heard.
JamesDevil: "woke up a floating skull ghost...great"
Smon: "...Sparkly Skull went in Whisperstone Room then came out with a large crystal clutched in its jaws before it returned to its home room."
JamesDevil: Claw turns to Q "remember how I always say how much I hate the undead? THIS is why"
Smon: OOC I think Message spell lets recipient whisper back BTW
Keelia: She shrugs at Claw, then turns back to Morcruft, "do you know what kind of crystal?"
Keelia: (thanks, I assumed Message was one way)
Smon: Morcruft scratches his head. "Me not sure what all means. Gem - big big sapphire, deep blue."
Keelia: "And where is it's 'home room'?"
JamesDevil: ooc Message is 2 way PHP
JamesDevil: PHB
JamesDevil: Claw looks at Q " the Shard?"
joriandrake: The target (and only the target) hears the message and can reply in a whisper that only you can hear.
joriandrake: one of the best non-combat cantrips
Smon: Morcruft points through the double doors at NE end of crypt. "Silver mist room there. All other rooms off silver mist room.
He looks at you with puppy dog eyes.
"You help me get home? Yes?"
JamesDevil: "maybe he's from another plane?"
Keelia: "Likely all the Leng are from another plane, or at least far away."
Smon: "Plane? Yes! Me from Leng!"
JamesDevil: "think you can spare another spell Q?!
Keelia: "We can try," Q says, "We should look at the silver mist room and see what clues it has."
Smon: Morcruft looks excited. "Leng is in the Land of Dreams!" He waves his arms, Spongebob style.
JamesDevil: Claw laughs deeply
JamesDevil: "he'll make an amusing companion at least"
Smon: Morcruft goes over to the far doors, peeks through a key hole. "Looks safe..."
Keelia: "Maybe we can activate the portal without my needing a spell. Let's go check it out. I'm curious about this large gem guarded but the skull also."
Smon: Morcruft nods and pushes open the double doors, revealing...
joriandrake: Drakh messages Q again "Well, I guess this horrid creature could be considered a natural and normal thing on its own plane, as long the gate can be closed it could also be allowed home instead of destruction"
JamesDevil: "one second Morcruft, Drak mind checking the door?"
Smon: GM: Drak scans the doors - no traps.
Smon: Over fifty feet across and nearly a hundred feet wide, the ceiling
of this immense chamber stretches up into the darkness like a
silo. The walls glitter with sparkling blue and purple crystals,
with those higher up giving the illusion of colored stars above.
A stone door sits at the end of a wide hall to the south, while
to either side of this entrance, three large black metal doors
loom in the walls (although one set of doors to the northwest
has been smashed to rubble). The far side of the room features
a wide alcove in which a fountain of glowing blue liquid ripples,
but the most significant feature of the massive hall is the vast
pit that takes up the majority of the floor, leaving a ten-footwide
ledge around its edges. Silver light shines up from a
roiling bank of fog thirty feet down in this immense pit, and
now and then, immense rumblings and sloshing sounds, like a
whale floundering amid the waves of a distant beach, echo up
from the silver-limned depths.
joriandrake: Drakh sighs, leaves higing place to check door
joriandrake: hiding*
Smon: GM: Your door set is the SW one.
JamesDevil: "Hmm"
JamesDevil: Claw peers over the edge
Smon: Morcruft listens to the rumbling/sloshing sounds nervously. "That's the Worm - the Dhole. Eater of Worlds. Me fell past it. It not see me."
joriandrake: Drakh will open it from distance if needed
JamesDevil: "thats probably a good thing...2
JamesDevil: "
Keelia: Does Q see any missing crystals on the walls? If they are blue and purple and the skull took a blue one, maybe we need all the crystals to activate the portal?
JamesDevil: Is then smashed door completely impassable rubble or just difficult to move through?
Smon: Claw peers over the edge of the great pit, the roiling silver mist 30' down. It almost seems that something unimaginably vast and worm-like is moving, far down in the mist. He has a sense of staring into an immense abyss.
JamesDevil: ooc, my god, its full of stars..."
Smon: Morcruft points to the east-central doors. "Skull took crystal sapphire from there - the Whisperstone room."
JamesDevil: "we should definitly go around and avoid the pit"
JamesDevil: "that'll be our next step then
Smon: Claw looks to the smashed NW doors - they could be stepped over into the chamber beyond. The destruction looks recent.
Morcruft: "Dragon broke doors. Took out treasure!"
Smon: GM: The walkway around the central pit is 10' wide. The waterfall is in an alcove on the north side, a hemisphere about 25' across & deep
JamesDevil: "Ah, i see, perhaps w should check that room first? there maybe clues that will give us an advantage over that Skull creature"
Keelia: "What kind of treasure?"
Keelia: "Purely gold? or something more?"
joriandrake: "Mind to remind me why we are here for again? I mean, how is this location related to the shards?" Drakhaien wonders
Smon: GM: For convenience, the other door sets starting from SE and going anti clockwise are, per Morcruft:
E5 - Abysium Reactor
E6 - Whisperstone Room
E7 - Binding Chamber
E8 - smashed door room
E9 - floaty skull home
& then SW Morcruft's home
Smon: OOC With the Shard of Wrath, Claw can sense that the Shard of Sloth lies beyond the silver mist.
Keelia: "We don't know where the shard is precisely. We could find the shard down here, hidden away from threats. The Leng had an understanding, so perhaps they were trusted with it and now the dragon has the shard in the stolen treasure."
Smon: >>"What kind of treasure?"
Keelia: "Purely gold? or something more?"<<

Morcruft shrugs.
"Me not see so good through peephole."
JamesDevil: "We may have a problem, I sensed the shard of Sloth lies beyond the mist..."
Keelia: She nods. "It is just as likely that the dragon has the shard, so we should see if we can re-activate the portal somehow."
joriandrake: "So on the other plane... Leng"
Keelia: "And if that crystal is vital to the portal, that would explain why the dragon never came back. It couldn't."
Smon: Morcruft nods, points to the fountain in the north alcove. "Me come from Leng. Splash into pool there! *brr*"
joriandrake: "Wouldn't it be easier for us to just let the shard stay there, and destroy the gate? I mean, the shards are what the runelords want mainly, so if we remove their ability to gather all we also remove the ability to craft that weapon from the gathered ones"
joriandrake: "...the alternative is to go to Leng, what I really don't like as a plan"
Keelia: "Because the shards could potentially form a weapon which would be powerful enough to stop the rune lords, and just because we destroy this one portal, doesn't mean a rune lord cannot form another easily and step through the Leng."
JamesDevil: "and theres no garentee that they won't just find a way to get to Leng"
JamesDevil: "then retieve the Shard anyway"
joriandrake: Drakh turns to QUilla "If we go there, can you guarantee we can also return?"
Smon: OOC Quillax has a tuning fork to Plane Shift to Golarion
joriandrake: "I know some of our companions constantly fade in and out of our plane, but the two of ours are very similar, while Leng sounds like a very different place"
Smon: Which is how she got back from the astral plane last time
joriandrake: ok then
Keelia: (Thanks!)
Smon: Talking of which, Quillax give me a Religion check DC 20
Keelia rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 6, (+5) = 11
Smon:
Keelia: that's a shit roll
joriandrake: hm "Well... could it be possible to leave this shard for last to pick up then, and craft the weapon on the other place? At least the runelords are unlikely to disturb the process then"
joriandrake: other plane*
JamesDevil: "This IS the last shard"
Smon: GM: Quillax knows (a) you already have the other 6 shards and (b) According to Sheila you need all 7 to craft (re-forge) the Sihedron.
Smon: Claw probably knows it too
joriandrake: oh, I thought one shard was stolen
joriandrake: nvm then
JamesDevil: ooc Claw has proficeny with Smith tools, will that be aenough to forge the weapon?
JamesDevil: the sword of greed was stolen
JamesDevil: Clank was most upset about it
Keelia: (sorry for the delay, mom was talking to me). Q also has al sorts of skills but it has to be put together in a very special place.
joriandrake: (well, I guess we must go there then to try to do that, I don't like epic weapon crafting because if it depends on Thassilonia the weapon could be just as bad or worse as the runelords, I doN't wish to fight a giant golem due to our foolishness as example)
Keelia: "Yes, I can get us back as long as I don't have to use a spell to get us there. Or we have a place to rest until I can regain my magical strength)
joriandrake: "So, ghoul, how are you stuck here again? I mean, the gate/portal seems to be open"
JamesDevil: "ok, so what do we need to get to Leng then? the crystall that the Skull has?"
Smon: >>Claw has proficeny with Smith tools, will that be aenough to forge the weapon?<< The Pathfinder Koriah Azmeren plans to use the Sihedron Forge that Quillax discovered as a newbie Pathfinder on her first adventure to reforge the Sihedron.
JamesDevil: I assumed it would be that place, I was wondering if he knew enough to do it there
Keelia: (You would, we discussed it at the council meetings  )
Smon: >>"So, ghoul, how are you stuck here again? I mean, the gate/portal seems to be open"<<

Morcruft scratches his head and looks at Drakhaien. "You could be right.... Me thinking need do stuff like dragon did!"
Keelia: "From what I can tell, the portal exists, but it's sleeping, for want of a better word. We'd need to activate it. And to activate it, we may need that crystal."
joriandrake: "Did you try go through it already?"
Smon: >>I assumed it would be that place, I was wondering if he knew enough to do it there <<

Well Sheila & Koriah & Brodert think it's more an Arcane Ritual type reforging, less of a 'barbarian hits things' reforging
JamesDevil: "where exactly is the portal? and please don't say down!"
Smon: Morcruft indicates the silver mist.

>> "Did you try go through it already?"<<

He shakes his head, looking embarrassed.

"No."
JamesDevil: "I don't blame you"
JamesDevil: "Ok, tell EXACTLY what you saw the dragon do, then we'll try to do the same and get to Leng
JamesDevil: "
Smon: Morcruft looks agitated. "Me not know! Took dust from Abysium Room! Did ritual in Whisperstone room for an hour! Me not know ritual!"
Keelia: "OK - let's check out the whisperstone room first for clues."
JamesDevil: "That ok!, its a start, you've done good!"
JamesDevil: Claw smiles
Keelia: "We'll check out the Abysium room second."
JamesDevil: "sounds like a plan"
JamesDevil: Claw moves around the pit to the whisperstone room
Smon: Morcruft nods, relieved. "This way."
He leads you round the south side of the pit to the eastern (Whisperstone/E6) doors, passing the Abysium Core (E5) doors from behind which comes a strong humming sound.
joriandrake: "Sometimes magic is pretty simple, Leng is the home of... this one" Drakh points to the ghoul "So maybe it would activate for an attempt of it to go through, back home. A dragon is a whole different cake and as far I know the ghoul didn't trigger that creature inside before"
Smon: Morcruft listens thoughtfully to Drak.
joriandrake: "It might ignore its presence due to being undead and not from this world"
joriandrake: Drakh sends message to Q : "and if not, we see how things turn out with the ghoul acting as lure"
Smon: He turns a handle on the east doors and opens them into a 20x20 chamber...
This relatively plain room has but one feature—an ovoid, sixfoot-
long tan stone that floats two feet in the air above a threefoot-
high riser. The side of the strange tan stone features a
faceted gap, as if some sort of key could nestle within.
Keelia: Message: no need to be so blood thirsty yet, let's investigate a little first.
Smon: Morcruft points to the faceted gap. "There! Skelly-head took stone from there!"
joriandrake: Drakh hides back into shadows to percive/investigate the path as they continue, mumbling something eyebrows furrowed with a concerned face
JamesDevil: "So it stole a key from here"
Smon: Morcruft nods. "Me think so. Dragon used key. Skelly head not happy. Take key!"
Keelia: "It must activate this stone, this whisperstone? Does anyone know what a whisperstone does? It is a planar communication device?"
Smon: GM: You can all roll Arcana DC 22
JamesDevil: lol, Claw can't manage that
JamesDevil rolls 1d20-1 and gets: 1, (-1) = 0
Keelia rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 2, (+5) = 7
JamesDevil:
Keelia:  no
joriandrake: a sec
JamesDevil: Claw forgets where he is for a second
Keelia: Q will give Drak guidance
joriandrake rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 1, (+10) = 11
joriandrake: that is 20
JamesDevil:
joriandrake rolls 1d4 and gets: 3,
Smon:
joriandrake: 23 thanks for guidance Q
joriandrake: I love the rogue's roll stabilizer ability
Smon: The large block of stone is an unusual artifact from
Thassilon’s era known as a whisperstone. Whisperstones are
infused with potent divination magic, and Thassilonian wizards often used them to record information and
memories, treating them as a sort of telepathic mental
library of lore. Each whisperstone is keyed to a specific
crystal—in order to store information or access it, a user
had to insert the crystal into the stone and maintain
physical contact with the crystal for the duration of the
information transfer.

JamesDevil: ooc
Smon: With the key crystal, a user can access the stored
memories within the whisperstone. Using the stone in this
manner requires the user to focus his thoughts on a
particular topic. If
Keelia: Q twitches. "Clank's buddy would love that."
JamesDevil: ooc wow, that means Claw could be supersmart!"
joriandrake: "...an arcane library locked in crystal"
Smon: topic. If that topic is not one stored in the
stone, or if the user doesn’t focus his thoughts, the stone
merely infuses the user with the knowledge of how to use
the stone.
Keelia: (it's like listening to a book on tape for claw, no reading necessary - he could learn loads.)
Smon: Also, in theory it is possible to activate one without the focus crystal, but again requires a DC 22 Arcane check.
joriandrake: "We could use that for certain, maybe modern mages could also copy the creation procedure of it, if we're lucky even more interesting things could be kept in crstals as lore"
Keelia: "Do we think this whisperstone has the information on how to activate the portal?"
Keelia: (go on J, give it a go with guidance  )
JamesDevil: "If the draragon used it that almost certainky"
joriandrake: ok, Drakhaien is intrigued, and will attempt that
Keelia: Guidance given
joriandrake rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 19, (+10) = 29
joriandrake: that is minimum 30 with the guidance dice
Keelia: "Think about the ritual of the portal, getting back to Leng, something like that."
joriandrake: but I guess a crystal keeps the 'books' so not sure what we can do with it without one
Smon: Drak communes with the Whisperstone...
joriandrake: Drakh focuses on the portal and Leng
joriandrake: ...and on secret or hidden treasures of old Thassilonia
Smon: "In order to activate the portal, you must expend nightmare or plane shift spell (either from spells known or prepared, or by using a magic item that allows one of these spells, like the nightmare rod in area E9) while pouring a handful of abysium powder (obtainable at area E5) into the fountain. Alternatively, destroying
or deactivating the abysium reactor and destroying the
demilich Mesmalatu will cause the fountain to malfunction.
In either situation, a creature that then partially or wholly
immerses itself in the water and leaps into the silver mist
in the pit is transported to the Temple of the Crawling Chaos in Leng."
Smon: "Treasure is stored in the vault at E8."
Keelia: "Right, we need to tackle E9 and E8 with a stop by E5 for the powder
joriandrake: "hm, let's try E8 first"
JamesDevil: "off we go then"
joriandrake: "The information in this stone might be outdated, so I don't expect miracles"
Keelia: wait, didn't the dragon loot all the treasure?
Smon: GM: Making your way round the north side of the pit, you pass the fountain and reach the dragon-shattered doors to E8 in the NW side of the chamber.
joriandrake: "Mesmalatu...?"
Smon: Two stone pillars support the low ceiling of this vault. There are
no other furnishings in the chamber, and the room’s walls are
lined with empty niches. An immense and broken scorpionshaped
statue made of bones lies in the middle of the room.
joriandrake: eh, looted and/or desecrated
joriandrake: Drakh inspects the room properly, to see if anything can be found or noticed that was missed by the looter
joriandrake: also, how thick the dust layer on floor is
Smon: >>An immense and broken scorpionshaped
statue made of bones<< Looks like the remains of a really big Skull Ripper, like the two you destroyed in the Library.
Keelia: "Something here was guarded," she points to the bones. "A ripper."
Smon: There's almost no dust here.
joriandrake: "So... the vault was guarded, but this thing got defeated"
JamesDevil: "ugh, one of those things"
joriandrake: "With almost no dust I assume this battle wasn't that long ago... but then again, the ripper seems to hint otherwise"
Smon: There are dragon scratches on the ground. Signs piles of treasure once lay here. Drak you can roll DC 28 Investigation
joriandrake: passive Inv is 31
joriandrake: "Seems like the dragon was here for looting" Drakh shows the claw marks
Smon: OK, Drak ascertains that the dragon scraped all the treasure into a Portable Hole, that's how she cleaned the entire room so well.
JamesDevil: brb, Claw will follow the others for a min
joriandrake: "Well... now we know there is a portable hole to claim"
Keelia: "Let's proceed to the next room."
joriandrake: "and preferably not placed into an extradimensional bag or such"
joriandrake: (kids remember, don't put your portable holes and bottomless bags into a TARDIS"
Smon: Morcruft: "You want go Abysium Core now? Not fight floaty skelly head - it scary!" he shudders.
joriandrake: Drakh nods "Yes, on to next non-combat room"
joriandrake: drakh will observe surroundings again as they walk
joriandrake: (maybe there is still a hidden door or such)
Smon: Morcruft gives Drak a puzzled look and scratches his head, leads you back round to the SE doors. Electrical humming comes from beyond, reminding Quillax and Claw of that time they sought the 7 Swords of Sin beneath Kaer Maga.
JamesDevil: back
Keelia: Electrical traps? or a generator?
joriandrake: if a generator we can shut it down
joriandrake: Drakh checks for traps
Smon: Morcruft: "Abysium Reactor. Says so." He points to the runes in Aklo on the doors, then once Drak has made sure there are no traps he gingerly opens the doors.
Smon: A column of blue-green crystal rises out of the floor to nearly
reach the room’s ceiling thirty feet above. To the left and right,
additional blue-green crystals protrude from the walls, and
flickering bolts of lightning arc back and forth from these to
the central crystal. The entire room vibrates with a thunderous
humming sound.
Keelia: Q peers inside.
Keelia: "lovely" she grumbles
joriandrake: noisy reactor
Smon: Over the centuries the reactor has
hummed away, tiny motes of expended abysium have
flaked down to gather in small piles on the floor. Even a
cursory examination of the powder reveals a section to the
northeast of the central pillar where a massive draconic
claw seems to have raked through the stuff to gather
some up.
Keelia: "anyone see where the powder is gathering?"
joriandrake: "Ghoul, what does this reactor actually power?"
Smon: GM: Everyone roll a DC 13 CON save - you're not feeling so good
Keelia rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 15, (+11) = 26
joriandrake: damn
Smon: Morcruft looks at Quillax, waves his hands airily. "Everything."
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 10, (+13) = 23
joriandrake: is it a gas related roll?
Smon: Radiation
Keelia: Nice. "OK," she nudges Drak, " You've got mage hand? Scoop us up some and let's get out of here."
joriandrake: oh well, my magic item doesnt help then
Smon: You saw Star Strek 2 with Spock's death right?
joriandrake rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 6, (+3) = 9
Smon: Drak is *really* not feeling good...
Smon: /roll d4
Smon rolls 1d4 and gets: 2,
joriandrake: you'll see it again
Smon: Drak takes 2 CON damage and is Poisoned
Keelia: (Is there any powder is reach?)
Keelia: *in
joriandrake: ok, Drakh goes pale, or green, or both (no poison resistance either, unless from gas or vapors)
Smon: You'd need to go over to the core where the lightning bolts flicker to pick it up, unless you had a highly dextrous mage hand...
JamesDevil: Hurray up Drak we can't stay in here forever"
JamesDevil: Mage hand away
joriandrake: Drakh leaves the room and summons the hand, but also asks Q for any spell or item against poisons
Smon: GM: Plan is Drak casts Mage Hand, scoops up Abysium with hand, then shut doors?
JamesDevil: Claw moves out of the room
JamesDevil: yep, thats the plan
joriandrake: Mage hand goes there with empty vial or flask or so, fills it up, comes with shut compartment back
Smon: The radiation effect spreads beyond the room, so you can do this but everyone will need to make 2 more CON saves DC 13
Keelia: She slaps him with a Greater Restoration, which should fix the CON damage
Smon: (wait till later Q!)
Keelia: *after the doors are closed
JamesDevil Rolls 1d20+13x2 and gets:
5 (+13) = 18
17 (+13) = 30
joriandrake: eh, I need to see so I can't go to a bigger distance but I can tell the others to wait further away
JamesDevil: those are my 2 saves
Keelia Rolls 1d20+11x2 and gets:
5 (+11) = 16
9 (+11) = 20
joriandrake Rolls 1d20+3x2 and gets:
9 (+3) = 12
7 (+3) = 10
Smon: Claw is fine, Quillax is fine. Morcruft seems unaffected.
joriandrake: all fails
Smon: /roll 2d4
Smon rolls 2d4 and gets: 1, 3, = 4
Smon: Drak is down -6 CON by the time you collect the abysium dust and shut the doors.
joriandrake: 14-6=8 Constitution... and yes we were stupid, could have asked ghoul to get it
joriandrake: max hp also affected now
joriandrake: "fuckaholy" the elf swears once the doors are closed
Smon: Quillax deduct 100gp of diamond dust... Quillax casts Greater Restoration on Drakh (who currently looks worse than Morcruft)... a moment later he's feeling a lot better.
JamesDevil: "ok, next room?"
Smon: Drak's 6 CON is restored.
Keelia: (deducted)
Smon: OOC You make a good team.  Drak add +10,000 XP.
joriandrake: Drakh nods greatfully to QUillax "Well, where is that dragonborn with his wine when you actually would accept the offer to drink? such a pity"
joriandrake: I'll drink to that good team if we all survive the climax of the story
Smon: GM: Drak can work out that you may not have to fight the demilich(?) as you have the dust and know how to activate the portal.
Keelia: She raises a brow at him. "I might have some in my bag if you are desperate...but considering what we are still to face, you may want your wits about you."
Smon: Of course you may WANT to fight it.
joriandrake: "Morcruft, if you go back in there, can you shut the generator down?"
JamesDevil: ooc means more xp and boons
Smon: Morcruft looks at Drak and shakes his head, incredulously.
joriandrake: "Whatever it powers, we are most likely better off if it is disabled"'
Keelia: (it also means i burn through the last of my spells and we have to wait a week before I'm useful again)
JamesDevil: good point
Keelia: "Shutting that down will not help activate the portal, it will only draw attention."
joriandrake: Drakh considers the options to avoid the battle (if we cross over a different plane you don't want to do it without spells)
JamesDevil: "ok, so what do we need to do next then?"
joriandrake: Can I roll for info, maybe history or arcane to see what exactly the reactor does, and what shutting it down would do?
Smon: OK
Smon: Investigation
Smon: (it's mostly tech not magic)
joriandrake: Drak will cponder this question and ask for Quillax's divine guidance
joriandrake: (even better for my elf)
Keelia: guidance
joriandrake rolls 1d20+16 and gets: 11, (+16) = 27
joriandrake rolls 1d4 and gets: 1,
joriandrake: 28 Inv
Smon: GM: The Abysium Reactor appears to power the entire Guiltspur complex and all the arcane effects within it, such as the permanent Tongues spell.
joriandrake: oh, how would it affect the portal room, if at all?
Smon: It would at least destabilise the portal. Hard to tell if it would be torn fully open, shut down, or one then the other.
Smon: The dhole probably would not be happy.
joriandrake: my chaotic good elf is inclined to try it jsut for giggles
JamesDevil: "ok, so either blow one of Q's portal spells with the dust or fight the Skull"
Keelia: not true.
JamesDevil: "Those appear to be our options
Smon: https://lovecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Dhole
joriandrake: "Sneak in, activate with rod, avoid battle"
joriandrake: "Or blow up this reactor and see"
Keelia: We get the nightmare sceptre. Might not be with the skull.
joriandrake: "I vote to blow shit up"
Keelia: Not sure where E9 is"
JamesDevil: The rod seems safer
Smon: E9 = west doors to the skelly head & the rod
JamesDevil: I'm sure Mort can tell us
Keelia: "Mage hand?"
Keelia: "maybe we can pluck it out without a fight."
joriandrake: (I literally roll a dice here now and then to see how Drakh behaves, usually my outcome is amiable or professional, this is the first time I rolled chaotic trickster)
joriandrake: "aww, blowing up ancient machines is fun too!"
Smon: OOC you can roll Religion DC 20 re demiliches
joriandrake: got no religion prof
Keelia: "No." she says, as the voice of experience, "it's usually far too much trouble. And what if it destroys the portal and then I have to use my spell or it draws attention to us and we have two or three fights all at once?"
Smon: can still roll if you like
Keelia: Eh, everyone take a guidance
JamesDevil: ooc on both sucess and failure the answer is FUCK NO
joriandrake: ok, random luck here it goes
joriandrake rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 7, (+1) = 8
JamesDevil rolls 1d20-1 and gets: 12, (-1) = 11
Keelia rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 16, (+5) = 21
Keelia: oh. apparently Q knows
joriandrake: heh, fitting results
joriandrake: eh, my modifier is INT not WIS, so actually 11, still far from close
Smon: Claw has only heard of Flame Skulls, but to Quillax it sounds as if Mesmalatu(?) is a Demilich, an advanced form of Lich. They are known for eating the souls of their victims. And for being immune to pretty well everything.
joriandrake: hm, I thought demi means lesser, or not fully, such as a god vs demigod
Keelia: "I'm executive vetoing that fight. I don't want my soul eaten or to deal with another weird form of Lich. Been there, done that, fought a house."
JamesDevil: "does that included being cut up and fried?"
joriandrake: well this certainly puts the battle into perspective
JamesDevil: "fair enough"
joriandrake: Druid executive vetoing
Smon: >>hm, I thought demi means lesser<< OOC Quillax knows this is a common error, per the Sage Gygax.
joriandrake: CEO of Black Forest Incorporated
JamesDevil: ok, Drak, mage hand the rod if you can, if not we go in, grab is and get the hell out of dodge
joriandrake: Drakh will sneak AND mage hand, with invisible mage hand that is, so even the hovering hand is meant to sneak
Keelia: guidance for sneak
joriandrake: waiting for GM to know if/when to roll it
JamesDevil: Claw opens thee door gently
Smon: GM: Morcruft looks agitated as Drak sneaks towards the door of E9, the chambers of the demilich. He backs away hurriedly towards his own room.
Smon: Claw opens the doors to E9...
Smon: A wide flight of stairs leads up to a large hall. Four black stone
pillars support the thirty-foot-high arched ceiling above, while
a pale green curtain hangs to the west. Two large faces are
carved into the walls to the north and south—the north face
grins and the south face scowls. Each face’s mouth is agape,
allowing access to a small alcove beyond.
joriandrake: I thought i am the one to sneak in o.O
Keelia: (i don't think the skull ghost is a demilich, i think that might be something else, so we should be ok to engage it, maybe?)
JamesDevil: (i doubt a dhost wiould be any better)
Smon: fear. Upon
close inspection, a shimmering but mostly transparent
field of energy ripples in each of the mouths.
joriandrake: (you rolled well, I think your result means it is indeed a demilich)
joriandrake: Drakh investigates the alcove and curtains, and the path there, and looks up too ofc
Smon: Drak sneaks in... roll Stealth w guidance Drak
Smon: Your passive Investigate is 30?
joriandrake: 31
joriandrake rolls 1d20+17 and gets: 19, (+17) = 36
joriandrake rolls 1d4 and gets: 1,
joriandrake: stealth 37
JamesDevil: ooc like a shadow in the night...
Smon: Hazard: The long green curtain that separates the
throne and western portion of this chamber from view
seems to be made of a f lexible but strangely damp cloth.
It can be manipulated normally, but if subjected to any
amount of force (such as an attempt to pull it down, slash
it with a sword, or catch it in the area of effect of a damagedealing
spell), the entire curtain will detach from
the wall and reverts to its actual composition of green slime.
joriandrake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=375ENQbru8s
Smon: (He can dimly make out a throne through the green slime curtain)
Smon: The mouths - the mouths
radiate strong conjuration magic - these mouths are portals, anyone stepping into one of the mouths would normally be transported to some unknown location. However the energy field seems unstable,
as if the teleportation effect were malfunctioning.
joriandrake: ok, no touchy the curtain or throne then, Drakh looks for a mirror or pool of sorts, as a portal
joriandrake: drakh sneaks out then reveals his findings "There seem to be at least two portals in there, flickering and faulty"
Keelia: "Did you see anything that looked like a magical rod?"
joriandrake: "The curtains are actually a disguised green slime, nifty"
JamesDevil: "not a good sign, any sign of the rod?!
joriandrake: "perhaps in the throne, but it is well protected"
JamesDevil: "can you sneak behind it to get a better view?"
7:40pm  2019-5-11 sandor sunneson Has entered the room
sandor sunneson: evening all
JamesDevil: Hi Ferg
Keelia: hi
joriandrake: Drakh sighs and nods, he wil ltry to do so, without triggering the slime or other stuff
JamesDevil: "look, can you please get back in there and look for the rod? otherwise we have to fight a reeeeeeally nasty beast"
joriandrake: hi
joriandrake: can the elf avoid the slime-curtain to check the throne?
Smon: Drak sneaks back in (hi Ferg), up the steps and over to the slime curtain.
joriandrake: this throne room, is it the room of the demilich?
joriandrake: or could someone else have used a throne here?
sandor sunneson: Going well so far?
Smon: The curtain is flush with the walls - no way through. Looking closely he can make out what seems to be a skull on a pile of dust sitting on the throne 10' beyond the curtain, with a black horned mask on the left arm rest and a deep purple rod on the right arm rest.
joriandrake: (you just got here in time, we might soon be in ah ard battle)
Smon: The skull appears to have red ruby eyes and teeth.
joriandrake: ...
joriandrake: this feels dangerous
joriandrake: question: there was talk about a skull monster before ,could it be this? could it also be the same with the demilich?
JamesDevil: well its not going to get any better so shall we get this party started?
Smon: /roll 3d10
Smon rolls 3d10 and gets: 9, 5, 8, = 22
joriandrake: I cnsider using a spell of mine, but i doN't have many, so I have to be careful of spending slots
Smon: Drak you're not feeling so good - take 22 necrotic damage
joriandrake: Drakh flees
Smon: Drak hurries back out.
joriandrake: "The throne has a skull and the rod in it, also some energy barrier or unseen enemy, I believe the skull might be an enemy, as it has ruby decorations like some ancient liches"
Smon: GM: Sounds exactly like a Demilich to Quillax. They need the gems to trap & eat souls.
joriandrake: "I ponder to cast nondetection and invisibility to grab the rod"
JamesDevil: "a slime and a lich, not good"
joriandrake: "and I also feel... hurt, which is why I fled" (Drakh lost about a 6th of his total hp)
JamesDevil: "well man up! i'm still injured from that battle with the moth demon monster from before our last rest!"
joriandrake: The elven detective waits for reactions
joriandrake: "let me reword what I said: My whole being is alarmed of the throne and our situation, my very being cries out to jsut skidaddle from here"
JamesDevil: Ok, if its undead then Q's hold beam thing should hurt it like hell, I'm thinking you all stay back, I throw a javalin at the curtain then you all nuke from range while I hold it in place£
joriandrake: "This instinct is what helped me survive this long"
joriandrake: oh heck, drakh casts Nondetection then Invisibility
Keelia: (mild faulty assumption there, I have one spell slot left for anything powerful and i'm saving it to get us home)
Keelia: (there is no sun beam)
Smon:
Keelia: (unless we want to sit out a week somewhere)
joriandrake: (I can try grab rod and still flee even if a lich skull is there)
JamesDevil: ooc ah, k, soz didn't realise that
joriandrake: (with nondetection it might not notice me)
JamesDevil: go for it
JamesDevil: be quick or be dead
JamesDevil: if it notices you we'll bar the door once your out
joriandrake: fine, Drak gulps, gathers his minor bravery and goes take the rod then back out the door again while sneaking / invisible
Keelia: what's the range on mage hand
joriandrake: doesn't matter, I need to do this manually due to spells active
sandor sunneson: Nice Jorian,
sandor sunneson: good luck
joriandrake: Drakhaien is careful to not touch the skull and only take the rod
joriandrake: stealth guidance could help again
joriandrake: plus I have stealth advantage from invisibility I think
joriandrake: well, I try this roll now
Keelia: guidance would have been given
joriandrake rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
joriandrake rolls 1d20+17 and gets: 12, (+17) = 29
Smon: GM: Is Claw throwing javelin to bring the slime curtain down first?
joriandrake rolls 1d4 and gets: 1,
joriandrake: 30 on Stealth again
joriandrake: (please no)
JamesDevil: no, i'll hold off
Smon: >>stealth advantage from invisibility<< no
Smon: Drak sneaks up towards the slime curtain - how is he getting past it to get the rod?
joriandrake: ok, then only the roll I already did
JamesDevil: If it goes to attack him then i'll throw one
joriandrake: how did I get past it first time to see the rod and skull with rubies?
joriandrake: I assumed the curtains were slid open partially
Smon: You looked through it, like I said. It's semi transparent up close.
Smon: I said not.
Smon: >>Smon: The curtain is flush with the walls - no way through. Looking closely he can make out what seems to be a skull on a pile of dust sitting on the throne 10' beyond the curtain, with a black horned mask on the left arm rest and a deep purple rod on the right arm rest.<<
joriandrake: Drakh will then try use Sleight of Hand to reach past it without messing with the curtain
joriandrake: ah I thought you meant I see no hidden doors on the walls
Smon: *sigh*
Smon: You cannot get past the curtain without touching it, unless you have dimension door or teleport etc.
joriandrake: can I try sleight of hand? otherwise I see no other way to reach it with spells remaining active on him
Smon: >>can I try sleight of hand? << No.
JamesDevil: Claw turns back to Q
joriandrake: sigh, we need to get past this, fine I use mage hand, it is invisible, but its casting means my own invisibility ends, although nondetection spell remains active
JamesDevil: Claw shakes his head
joriandrake: Drakh hides as he navigates the hand to grab the rod then hover with it up/around the curtain
joriandrake: then run back to others as fast/stealthy he can
Smon: You can mage hand up the rod and THEN use sleight of hand to try to slip it under the curtain without the curtain falling. OK?
joriandrake: yep, ok
joriandrake: mage hand - does /% sleight roll: next
joriandrake rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 8, (+11) = 19
Smon: GM: Drak casts Mage Hand. The rod lifts up. He moves it to the base of the curtain - roll Sleight of Hand. Also the Skull is lifting up...
joriandrake: 21
joriandrake: shit
Smon: OK Drak slips the rod under the curtain. The Skull appears to be looking around...
joriandrake: rud/hiding/get out of room
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 7, (+3) = 10
joriandrake: (goddamn happy I have at least nondetection active)
Smon: >>rud/hiding/get out of room<< are you sneaking out, or running?
joriandrake: sneak
joriandrake: first word was meant to be rod
Smon: OK. Roll init Drak
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 2, (+5) = 7
Smon: Drak grabs the rod (now slightly slimy) and turns to tip-toe away.
joriandrake rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 1, (+5) = 6
Smon: (the slime is not harmful in this state)
joriandrake: what was the skull's perception?
Smon: LOL
sandor sunneson: What awful rolls lol
joriandrake: that 1 was for init
Smon: Skull got 10 on Perception, but it knows someone just knicked its rod.
joriandrake: my stealth was 30 I think
Smon: #20 The chamber trembles violently...
joriandrake: ok, that is worrying
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
Smon: Drak roll DC 19 DEX save or be knocked prone.
joriandrake: even if he knows it is stolen, if we can get away with the rod we can activate the portal and flee in time
JamesDevil: we don't even know how long it will take to activate
joriandrake: pure dex save, not acrobatics?
Smon: dex save
joriandrake rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 17, (+11) = 28
Smon: with prof obviously
joriandrake: ok, I feared a terrible roll again
joriandrake: Drakhaien goes full on burglar agility mode
Smon: OK Drak manages not to go sprawling (which would have left him in plain sight as the skull emerges from through the slime curtain)
joriandrake: (I hate it when I'm right - re: skull)
Smon: #7 The demilich emerges, it looks around but can't seem to see Drak to soul-eat him. It howls in frustration...
Smon: Drak roll a DC 15 CON save or drop to 0 hp
joriandrake: Drakh silently wonders how the heck the dragon didn't fight this undead before
joriandrake: ....goddamnit
Smon: (that was a bad init roll to lose)
joriandrake rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 20, (+3) = 23
Smon:
joriandrake: woohoo
Smon: Drak is Frightened, but not dead yet...
sandor sunneson: well done, lady luck is with you
joriandrake: I was already frightened, no need for a nat 20 to tell me
Smon: Ears ringing, he sneaks back across the chamber hugging the wall - what is his move speed? 30'?
joriandrake: normally 30, but can use bonus action to dash
joriandrake: this turn is fully spent on getting out alive, and as silent/unseen as possible
Smon: You need to sneak 40' back across chamber/down stairs then make a run for it down a 25' corridor that leads back to the double doors
Smon: Sneak is half speed right - so would need 105' of movement.
joriandrake: ok, so I can sneak 60 this round I think, which leaves me 5 feet short
joriandrake: hm
Smon: You can sneak 90/2 = 45' in one round by my count
Smon: so you can sneak back to the tunnel unseen
Smon: or run 90'
Smon: If you run it'll see you
joriandrake: I doN't see where it says my stealth move is half
Smon: but you'll be out of the room
Smon: under Adventuring
Smon: pg 182
joriandrake: thanks
Smon: hm, says 2mph
joriandrake: for me it says to see chapter 7 on 182
Smon: Anyway I reckon half speed to move silently & stay hidden
joriandrake: ok
joriandrake: will do that then, combined with bonus action also spent on moving
joriandrake: this means I will need 3 turns to get out
joriandrake: including this one I just end
Smon: OK you sneak 45' down to the exit tunnel. Now 20' from the doors.
Smon: Next round - Claw & Quillax you heard the scream, are you coming in or waiting & hoping?
joriandrake: wait, even if my speed is half why is the distance doubled?
JamesDevil: Claw is stabnding behind the door waiting for Drak to come out
joriandrake: I mean the 105 distance is what stopped my thinking and what made me pause the reply
Keelia: Waiting, if there wasn't shouting for us to come save him, we'll wait, weapons drawn
Smon: Distance is 40 + 25 & your stealth speed is 45
JamesDevil: when he does he'll gently closes the doors
joriandrake: ok
joriandrake: as he sneaks he is horrified to notice the door is closed before him -.-
Smon: GM: Ok the skull floats towards the exit...
JamesDevil: ooc Claw hasn't closed the door yet Drak
Smon: #20 The demilich emits an energy drain aura. Drakhaien roll a DC 15 CON save
JamesDevil: he's waiting for you to get out
joriandrake: (my misunderstanding then)
joriandrake: the thing can do this turnly???
joriandrake: ok im basically dead
joriandrake rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 16, (+3) = 19
joriandrake: just not yet..
Smon: Also #7 on a 5-6 its Death Howl recharges
Smon: /roll d6
sandor sunneson: nice one Jor,
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: bad luck
joriandrake: Well, should reach door/others next turn with move
Smon: Drak resists the aura but as the skull comes near it emits a death howl - only kills within 30' of his position - it moved 30', he 45', & so it is about 30' away; Drak make a contested DEX (Acrobatics) check to be out of range when it howls
Smon: Skull DEX check
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 8, (+5) = 13
Smon: OK I reckon Drak beats a 13
joriandrake: auto does
joriandrake: can't do worse than 21
Smon: Drak is too far down the corridor to drop dead... he finishes sneaking out & Claw closes the doors behind him!
joriandrake: "We have to run for the ortal - and our lives - as sneakily we can! now!"
joriandrake: portal
JamesDevil: "right, now we we need to get to that portal"
joriandrake: He shows the rod to others in hand then moves
Keelia: "We need to jump into the pool first."
sandor sunneson: well done
joriandrake: "undead lich searches for me behind, so move move move"
Smon: GM: You race for the portal fountain.
Smon: Claw give me a sleight of hand check please
Smon: DC 13
JamesDevil: err, ok
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 14, (+2) = 16
Smon: (see if the lich noticed the open/ajar door)
Smon: Nope!
joriandrake: I tell quillax to prepare the stuff needed to do the portal opening thing, and if possible Drakh wil lactivate the rod for it
JamesDevil:
Keelia: (phew!)
Smon: It thinks Drak is still in its room, and roams around Death Howling the place trying to root him out!
joriandrake: "The thing has rubies instead eyes, so with my meager magical knowledge I assume it either has blidsight - likely not as he didn't notice my sneaking - or true sight to not be blind, so we need to keep distance and it might not even turn the right way to look for us"
joriandrake: yay
joriandrake: this scene was really scary
Keelia: Boon of speed activate! zoom!
joriandrake: especially the rolling of Con or fall to 0 hp part
Smon: GM: You'll need to Attune the Nightmare rod to use its main powers... otherwise it's just a +2 mace
joriandrake: I doN't think even barbarians have much better chance with that
JamesDevil: Barbarians bounce at 0 hp
joriandrake: shit, I can swap out an attunement, but it also means a hour rest required somewhere, and the skull might go search for us where we rest then
JamesDevil: lets go back to the room we camped in last session
Smon: GM: Drak take 25,000 XP
JamesDevil: that was safe
joriandrake: thanks
Smon: You camped upstairs in the ruins by the dark lake - you head back up to there?
sandor sunneson: well done Jor
Smon: Can fly/climb etc
joriandrake: (not out of danger yet)
joriandrake: yes, I believe I can fly
Keelia: I thought we camped just at the base of that ?
Smon: Morcruft: "Take me with you! Me scared of skelly-head!"
joriandrake: with my batcape
JamesDevil: we did i think
JamesDevil: so we'll camp to get the attument done
Keelia: Because I didn't climb up anywhere to spend my hit dice... that I remember at least
JamesDevil: "you can come with us"
joriandrake: "Eh.... sure, no backstabbing, attacking, or eating of any of us then or we leave you to this or many similar flying skulls"
JamesDevil: Claw smacks Jorian on the back of the head
JamesDevil: "stop being rude"
Smon: OK you can camp just past the Winds of Madness doors at the base of the pit.
joriandrake: suddenly a wild Jorian appears
Smon: You start resting - on a 6 you have a demilich encounter...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: LOL of course
Keelia: fuck
JamesDevil: o ffs
joriandrake: swap dices S
Smon: (shoulda gone upstairs)
JamesDevil: I shut the doors damn it!
joriandrake: we are dead probably
joriandrake: but it howls... QUillax can you cast silence? then let the warriors handle this?
